Favourite Posture: I love them all. If I had to choose one, it would be Eagle Pose Garurasana.

Why practice Bikram Yoga:

I practice Bikram yoga because it helps me live. In 2010, I practiced regularly (2 times a week was all my schedule could allow at the time) for seven years. In 2016, I made a major move from Florida to Virginia for my career and continued to practice, but only once a week as the closest studio was an hour drive away, one way.

In March 2018 I had to have a life-saving crainotomy for a colloidal cyst. The colloidal cyst was removed from my third ventricle. It was blocking my cerebrospinal fluid. The side effects of this condition are sudden death. I had my surgery done at Johns Hopkins teaching university in Maryland. My recovery was a very slow process. I was grateful to be alive but did not practice Bikram Yoga again until the end of 2019. The studio closest to me closed due to the pandemic so my loving partner “Tom” converted our garden shed into a sauna room for me. I needed to get back to Bikram Yoga and live to my fullest potential, as this yoga will do, and has done for everyone who practices. I practiced by myself for the next two years and went to a studio whenever I could. I was weak but slowly grew stronger.

This year in April I decided to attend Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in Thailand, Spring 2023. Physically, it was more than I could handle and had to excuse myself from the program. I went to learn more about the practice, and I did. I began to feel my brain waking up in the areas that had been affected by my surgery. It was a phenomenal experience.

Bikram offered me to return and finish the program another time, which is very generous, and I want to finish. I will not let myself get too far away from Bikram Yoga again, ever. For me, for all of us, it is the greatest expression of our best self 🙏 Much Love All ❤️ See less
